Welcome our new interim Pastor! Pastor Margrethe Shizuko Chinen Kleiber delights in adventures–particularly the adventure of accompanying God’s people as they seek to discern God’s purpose! She loves her work as an interim pastor because it allows her to walk with gifted congregations in unique settings as they move through the transition and call process.
Pastor Kleiber was born and raised on the island of Oahu. Ordained on August 22, 1993, at the Lutheran Church of Honolulu, she has pastored congregations in California, the United Kingdom, Northern Virginia, and Washington D.C. She also served with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s (ELCA) Division for Global Mission in Chicago as the Program Director for South Asia.
Pastor Kleiber lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with her husband Tony, a foreign service officer, and their two cats, Simba and Nala. She enjoys cooking (she is the daughter of two chefs), traveling (she has visited thirty-nine countries), and reading a good e-book with a cat curled up on her lap.
