In March, Grace Chinese Lutheran Church Seattle was the recipient of racist graffiti on their church property. This incident, part of the wave of Asian-hate throughout the US, hit very close to home for the Asian-American community in Seattle's Pinehurst neighborhood. As soon as the Northwest Washington Synod learned of the incident, Bishop Shelley Bryan Wee and the rest staff reach out to provide care, and Grace Chinese received a flood of solidarity and support from other congregations and colleagues. Here is Bishop Wee’s video response, drawing wisdom and strength from the words of Romans 8: "If God is for us, who is against us? ... For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
