This season of interim time with First Trinity and St. Matthew has been a joy. You welcomed me with great warmth and acceptance. With humor and grace, you have forgiven me my quirks, foibles, and failings.
Let me commend both congregations for the work you have accomplished. The First Trinity Call Committee has put in countless hours on the call process. Because of their work, First Trinity is ready to call its next pastor and move into God’s future. The St. Matthew Council has been equally proactive in partnering with the synod and United Seminary. This September, St. Matthew will welcome Vicar Cate Florenz to its community. Vicar Cate is excited about growing St. Matthew and will work with its leadership as St. Matthew reaches out to the Southwest D.C. community.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the interim pastor for First Trinity and St. Matthew. I am proud of the work we have done together, and I am excited about your futures. I will never forget the season I spent with you. You will always have a special place in my heart.
I will continue to keep you in my prayers.
May God richly bless and keep you!
