July 15, 2021

This Sunday, July 18, at 5:30 pm, Maryland Public Television will air “Blue Birds of Antietam”, staring Mark Raabe. This award-winning documentary film tells the story of Mark and Jean Raabe’s efforts to save the Eastern Bluebird. After Jean spotted a bluebird outside their cabin located near the Antietam National Battlefield in Sharpsburg, Maryland, Mark and Jean Raabe built bluebird boxes on their property hoping to stave off the decline in the bluebird population. Then they created the bluebird trail located on the perimeter of the Antietam National Battlefield with over 140 blue bird boxes. These boxes have fledged over 10,000 bluebirds and growing since their inception in 1979.

Check out the trailer here. You can watch the Maryland Public Television broadcast live, on the Maryland Public Television website or find the channel in their directory. "Bluebirds of Antietam" is always available to rent on Amazon Prime for just $1.99 ($2.99 to watch in high-definition).
