This Sunday, July 18, at 5:30 pm, Maryland Public Television will air “Blue Birds of Antietam”, staring Mark Raabe. This award-winning documentary film tells the story of Mark and Jean Raabe’s efforts to save the Eastern Bluebird. After Jean spotted a bluebird outside their cabin located near the Antietam National Battlefield in Sharpsburg, Maryland, Mark and Jean Raabe built bluebird boxes on their property hoping to stave off the decline in the bluebird population. Then they created the bluebird trail located on the perimeter of the Antietam National Battlefield with over 140 blue bird boxes. These boxes have fledged over 10,000 bluebirds and growing since their inception in 1979.
